About the trail:
We'll be riding the segment from NYC (Manhattan Greenway Trail) to Albany, which is considered the Hudson Valley Greenway Trail portion of the Empire State Trail. The total distance of riding is approximately 200 miles over 5 days of riding, with a minimum of 35 miles and a maximum of up to 65 miles. e-Bikes are welcome, when used as pedal-assist up to 20mph, though speed limit on the trail will usually be 10-15 mph, except on roadways. This trail segment DOES have some road riding. See the website above for a map and more information about the trail.

There are no administrative or tour guide costs for this trip. Participants must pay for their own travel, transportation, lodging, food, and any other personal expenses.
To transport our bikes from the Albany train station to NYC, we'll share the cost of a Uhaul, driven to NYC by the organizer. Cost for this bike transport is TBD depending on the number of participants, but likely in the ballpark of $50.
Lodging can be expensive in New York. So attendees are encouraged to share rooms to help reduce costs. The registration form linked at the bottom of this page has a question regarding your interest to share a room, and the organizer can help you get connected with others that are interested in sharing.
Total costs are expected to be $1000 - 1500 or less, depending on whether you share a room or stay alone, and how much money you choose to spend on food, shopping, and other entertainment. This may also vary depending on your transportation to and from the starting location of Albany NY.

Day 1: Saturday, August 9, 2025 - Albany, NY to New York City, New York
Attendees will meet at the train station in Albany, NY.

There is parking available in the lots and parking garage for $50-70/week, depending on which parking facility you choose. See This Page for more information on the station and parking.
A Uhaul will be rented by the organizer to transport bikes to NYC while attendees are traveling to NYC via Amtrak. The cost will be divided by the number of attendees, TBD. Payment can be made to the organizer in cash at the train station or via Venmo (info to be given when the cost is determined).
Attendees must buy their own train ticket from Amtrak from Albany to Penn Station. Departure time TBD - either 11:05am or 1:15pm (times are subject to change by Amtrak). To be discussed at an upcoming event meeting and on the WhatsApp group.
Lodging:
Albany- August 8 evening: Group members can stay wherever they'd like in Albany or surrounding areas the night before the train trip to NYC.
New York City- August 9th evening: Group members can stay wherever they'd like in the general Times Square to Chelsea area. This area can be expensive, so it is encouraged to share a room with another attendee to help reduce costs.
New York City Options:
Distrikt Hotel New York City (A Hilton brand hotel) - walkable to Times Square, 1 mile from starting location at Pier 84 at Hudson River Park.
Any hotel near the one listed above. There are many options on the same block. Make sure to read reviews, check prices, verify cancellation policy, etc. Hotels in this area are expensive, so you may want to find a roommate and look for rooms with 2 beds.
Day 2: Sunday, August 10, 2025 - New York City to Mount Kisco, NY
We'll start riding from the hotel to the Manhattan Greenway (A segment of the Empire State Trail), which runs along the Hudson River side of Manhattan. Meeting location: The fountain in Pier 84 at Hudson River Park - Meeting Time TBD (after breakfast).
If you'd like to cover the entire portion of this trail, you're welcome to ride the Manhattan Greenway down to the beginning at Battery Park. However, on the morning of August 10th, we'll start at the nearest point of the Greenway from our hotel(s) in Times Square. We'll ride on the Empire State Trail until we leave the trail just north of Millwood to ride about 5 miles on roads to get to the hotel. Daily Riding distance: ~45-50 miles.

Hotel MTK Mount Kisco - 7 rooms with 2 beds have been reserved for our group. Depending on how many people sign up and whether people want to share a room or have their own room, will determine if anyone needs to reserve their own room. Double room rate including breakfast and tax = $235 (divide by 2 if sharing a room). More information will be shared on the WhatsApp group an in an upcoming event meeting. Day 3: Monday, August 11, 2025 - Mt. Kisco to Poughkeepsie, NY
We'll ride ~5 miles on roads back to the Hudson Valley Greenway trail and head north toward Poughkeepsie. We'll stop before we get to the town of Poughkeepsie to keep the day's mileage reasonable. Riding distance: ~ 50-60 miles.

Best Western Inn at the Falls - 7 rooms with 2 beds have been reserved for our group. Depending on how many people sign up and whether people want to share a room or have their own room, will determine if anyone needs to reserve their own room. Double room rate including breakfast and tax = $157 (divide by 2 if sharing a room). More information will be shared on the WhatsApp group an in an upcoming event meeting. Day 4: Tuesday, August 12, 2025 - Poughkeepsie to Kingston, NY
Much of this segment of trail is gravel, with a bit of road riding. Riding distance: ~35 miles, depending on where we stay for the night.

Day 5: Wednesday, August 13, 2025 - Kinston to Hudson, NY
Almost all of this day's ride will be on roads. Please make sure to bring or turn on headlights and tail lights while riding on roads. Riding distance: ~35 miles

Day 6: Thursday, August 14, 2025 - Hudson to Albany, NY
The last day's ride alternates between road and gravel trail riding. Riding distance: ~35 miles
No lodging needed unless you'd like to stay in the area after the ride. After the ride, we may choose to get lunch together, or just head home or wherever your next adventure takes you!
